Biology 23
February 16-17, 2023, University of Geneva
Part of our joint research is dicovering each other's fields and attending events in the art and in the science fields. It was a great experience to attend the Biology 23 conference.
Elena Conti presented "Comparative genomics elucidates the convergent origins of floral hetermorphism"
Her talk was around Heterostyly and the super-gene s-locus.
Heterostyly is another cross-pollination mechanism, where flowers within a species can occur in either a pin or thrum form, so that pollen is deposited on an insect from one flower form in a location that matches the location that contacts the stigma in the second flower form.
